Slight Hiccup with the Course Release – Apologies in Video
Hi Everyone,
Joe here, CEO and Co-Founder of Rouxbe. I know we were supposed to release our cooking courses today. I’m really sorry to announce a slight delay. Please view the attached video for my explanation and apology (for the delay).
Have a a great weekend. See you next week. It’s very, very close. Painfully close. :-)

Hi Joe — thank you so much for the update. I can only imagine what a huge undertaking creating these courses must be, and it sounds like all of the staff at Rouxbe have been working really hard. I appreciate all the time and effort that you have put into launching your courses. Thanks for keeping us informed, and I hope all goes well.
Hello Everyone at Rouxbe,
All good things come to those who wait :) thanks for all the hard work you guys put into the school. Looking forward to the classes to start.
Mike
Joe,
You said you don’t want to make excuses…that is exactly what you’ve done.
I have been in business for 30 years and one of the most fundamental premises I’ve been taught is: UNDERPROMISE, OVER-DELIVER.
As a sales manager I’ve always understood the value of telling my customers my team had a product or solution to a problem ahead of time rather than disappointed them by being late. This is a trend I’ve noticed with Rouxbe…promise then apologize. Poor business practice.
I would like to conclude by saying I do love the site and the content.
Please continue with the quality work…just learn how to effectively manage dead-lines.
I lose sales when I miss my deadlines.

Don’t worry guys, I believe most of us understand that you are giving it all you have.
Aloha Joe and the staff at Rouxbe, I am happy that you took the time to explain whats happening with Feb. 1 enrollment and the delay, which I totally understand. I rather you guys put out the best courses possible than just put something out because of the deadline. Good call on you and your team…. looking forward to my classes. Aloha
I have been a life member of Rouxbe for a few months now and am working on my second time through the individual lessons. I have a degree in Home Economics and am retired after many wonderful years of teaching. I try to work on a Rouxbe lesson each day and/or try one of the many wonderful recipes included with the course. I tried the new Wheat and Gluten sample lesson and am very impressed and look forward to taking any and all of the new ones Rouxbe comes up with. I know it takes time to create the quality lessons you produce and the wait will be worth it.
I hope all of your team has a great (restful!) weekend and can get back to work on Monday to finish working on what appears to be one of the best online cooking courses I have seen. Thank you Rouxbe!
Good for you, Joe to put out a nice apology. I am sure you are disappointed, knowing you and Dawn, but it was good to do that and I am sure everyone will understand. You do look tired – I can see you have been working hard.
Jane
I appreciate the personal apology. Take your time, do it right. I do websites for a living and I’ve often had to cut corners and half-bake things to get them out on time. And it’s never worth it. Keep up the good work and we’ll be ready when you are!
Brian
My degree is in Computer Science. I can SO empathize with you Joe. Having been on that side in the past I know how frustrating it can be to be so close and not be ready. The last thing you want to do is have to apologize and explain why programs aren’t ready. Unless you have been in the software development world many people find it hard to understand the amount of testing that is required to ensure a quality product. After everyone is over the initial disappointment at having to wait a bit longer they’ll be glad you and your team took the extra time. Less frustrations for everyone later. Thank you Rouxbe for all the hard work and great classes you provide. I’m looking forward to the classes when they are ready and know they will be the high quality that you, Dawn and the rest of the team are striving for.

Thank you for your hard work Joe! We all appreciate Rouxbe, and I for one am so grateful you created this site. This site has vastly improved my cooking skills and has made our family dinners our most treasured time during the day. I love the site because you have allowed me access to information I never would have had access to. I do not work in the industry and I can’t afford to “go to college” just to improve my personal skills…but we love to eat and knowing I can be a life time student with access to a constant source of knowledge is priceless. You are making something that touches lives and sometimes that just takes time. As far as I am concerned your site has always over delivered! Keep up the good work! CHEERS!
Not to worry. I’m not through the individual recipes yet. I’d rather you do it right than do it sloppy. I’m still jazzed.
Thank you all
I learned about you through a cooking club, asked if I would do a test of your site. I have never left now a life time student. Because of you I have gone from a so so cook to God Damn I even surprise me. I never knew I could put this kind of food out there. I have been a life time student trying to learn what I could to make meals for my family (even as small as it is just the two of us). We have a travel trailer and even on the road I can still but out the same quality of food all becuse of Rouxbe. I am so excited about the new courses, so Please less not take to much longer, O’kay? (I am a 5 year old on Christmas morning waiting for the grown-up’s). Keep up the good work We are counting on you.
I personally appreciate the explanation and the honesty. Looking forward to starting the course, when it is ready for us to get the best out of it!
Hey, Joe. Thanks for the update. Of course, I was disappointed to see the courses aren’t yet available. But, I haven’t finished all the individual courses yet, so I can do that while I wait. Rouxbe has been a great help to me and my developing kitchen skills. I know my wife appreciates it.
Take your time and make sure the new courses are as good as or better than the courses available now. I’m sure they’ll be excellent.
I rather like the human element. Thanks for the communication.
Joe,
Thank you for your message, I can only imagine how complicated what you do is. I hope it works out well. At some point could you also explain what those of us who have been life time members for a long time need to do, if anything, to participate. Thanks for your communication!
Thanks, Joe. Definitely appreciate letting us know. As a lifetime member, I was particularly frustrated not being able to access the material: I thought that I might not be eligible for it. Glad to know that you guys are making sure you do it right!
Hello, thank you for taking the time to inform us about the progress of the courses. Personally I just enrolled so I’m not in a big hurry to have access to the courses, so I hope everything goes ok and well, good things are worth waiting for so… good luck and thank you again!
I can wait.
Any more updates? It’s been 4 days since we’ve last heard from you. Delays happen, it’s reasonable….but please keep us in the loop as many of us (especially new members like myself) are anxious to get started.

:’(
Just now finished up my wheat and gluten sample course…while I LOVE Rouxbe I can’t dedicate the time I had hoped to the lessons so I am kind of glad that I can have a bit of a breather. You put forth a quality product and I applaud you for holding back so the course quality doesn’t suffer. I’m a patient person!
Thank you!
So what’s the word? When are the new courses starting?
Joe, judging from the high quality of everything else y’all have done, it will be worth the wait.
Giving us a quality learning environment is much more important than missing the deadline. We are not talking life and death here. Thank you so much for the open apology but thank you more for your willingness to take a delay to get it right than give us a sub-par cooking and learning experience. Kudos to you and you team. Take your time and do it right!
Well, I was delighted to be able to launch and begin going through one of the Roadmap Part I, but can’t seem to get it to re-launch. In other words, I can’t get back into it to continue where I left off. Am I doing something wrong, or is the site down for a bit longer?
Oh!.. its working now!
