Rouxbe and TED

by · February 28, 2011

Today the annual TED Conference kicked off in Long Beach, California. For those of you not familiar with TED, it started in 1984 as an annual get together for leaders in Technology, Education, and Design, and has evolved into a series of sold-out events that bring together thought-leaders from a broad spectrum of backgrounds.

This years speakers include Bill Gates, David Brooks, Bobby McFerrin, and dozens more. Of particular interest to the Rouxbe crowd may be food-related speakers Morgan Spurlock (creator of the movie Super Size Me) and Homaru Cantu, Executive Chef at Chicago’s Moto restaurant (where they serve edible menus!)

The TED movement is fueled by people who care about big ideas that have the potential to change the world. Which is why we were super-excited when TED contacted us to let us know they would like to provide a Rouxbe gift card to every TED attendee.

So over the next few days if you notice a surge of Rouxbe students talking about the media, neuroscience, design, physics, health care policy, education, dinosaurs, and even puppeterering, you’ll know where they came from.

Check out their website if you want to learn more about TED.

What a great gift for the attendees – how cool is that!
The video on the Moto link was very interesting. It is mind boggling that they can change the taste of food and have the potential to help cancer patients, diabetics , address world hunger and be environmentally friendly all at the same time. It is exciting to hear what is going on “out there” in the food industry and about people who can not only think outside the box but also carry through with their ideas.
