Perfecting Hard-Boiled Eggs

Do you ever feel like Goldilocks in search of the perfect hard-boiled egg? While there are a number of factors that contribute to getting your eggs just right, the cooking time is one of the most important to note.  Refer to the visual below on average cooking times to achieve different levels of doneness for hard-boiled eggs.

    I put my eggs (size large) in cold water. Then I turn the heat to high and as soon as they are boiling I turn down the heat to almost the lowest temperature. For soft boiled I cook for 3 mins. 45 seconds to 4 mins. And for hard boiled, I do the same but leave them for 12 minutes. They are usually perfect … and there you are. J.G.
