Name That Cooking Sound #2
June 2nd, 2008 by Joe, Co-founder of Rouxbe
Back by popular demand, we have another Annual Premium Membership up for grabs to the first person that correctly guesses the cooking sound in this short clip…
Click here to review Game #1 for those who missed it.
For newbies to the game, here’s the background:
“As you may or may not know, cooking sounds are important indicators in cooking. The sound that an ingredient makes when it hits a frying pan can tell you right away if the pan is at the right temperature.
To become a great cook… you need to begin noticing what cooking ’sounds’ like. To get you thinking about this, we’ve started this game. It’s Kind of like Name that Tune - do your remember that… oops.. showing my age here :-)”

WE HAVE A WINNER!
Patri was the first person to guess and the guess was correct. It’s a mortar and pestle. Like the one in the panaeng paste. Nice work!
Can it be the sound of a mortar and pestle?
Another great sound! Joe, you don’t make these easy :)
Joe, you don’t make these easy :) Another challenge!
the first hit of an egg to crack it?
An egg hitting a bowl?
Is it the chopping/dicing of onions in the drill down from Salsa Verde de Lupita?
Is this a mortar and pestle
metal meat mallet striking a veal scallopini
We have a winner! Patri (and Tim, but he slept in too late, sorry Tim),
it’s a big heavy mortar and pestle. The one from the Panaeng Curry Paste.
Was it just me, or was this one too easy?
Good guesses though, I like how specific some people were getting. Fun!
See you next time, same place, same time!
Have a super day everyone.
